San Juan City TVL Senior High School conducts Catch-up Fridays Orientation

In line with the implementation of the National Reading Program as an integral component of the National Learning Recovery Program (NLRP), the Department of Education implements Catch-up Fridays. Catch-up Fridays is a learning mechanism intended to strengthen the foundational, social, and other relevant skills necessary to actualize the intent of the basic education curriculum. This initiative is integral in the National Reading and Mathematics Programs which are critical subprograms of the NLRP stipulated in DO O 13, s. 2023. San Juan City TVL Senior High School headed by Mr. Demie S. Atienza, School Head conducted an orientation on Catch-up Fridays.


The said activity was conducted last January 19, 2024 at the Pinaglabanan Elementary School, 2nd floor Multipurpose buidling. The participants of this event are the teaching personnel, Grade 11 and 12 learners and parents/guardians. Mr. Atienza puts emphasis that all Fridays throughout the school year shall be designated as Catch-up Fridays, with a focus on operationalizing the National Reading Program (NRP) during the first half of the day's schedule and on fostering Values, Health, and Peace Education for the second half. Additionally, the Homeroom Guidance Program (HGP) shall also be included in the Catch-up Fridays. The schedule was also shown to the participants and also the team leaders and team members of each learning area. After the orientation, an open forum was facilitated to answer all the questions regarding the Catch-up Friday. The orientation ended with the closing remarks by Mr. John Paolo S. Alad, LCRP focal person. The orientation was facilitated by Mr. Michael F. Mabasa and Mrs. Michelle R. Cordovilla. To God be the Glory!

Drop Everything and Read!

In line with the implementation of the National Reading Program as an integral component of the National Learning Recovery Program (NLRP), the Department of Education implements Catch-up Fridays.

Starting this January 12, 2024 through the Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) Day, this initiative aims to provide learners with the opportunity to engage in independent silent reading of their preferred material.

Catch-up Fridays is designed to strengthen the foundational, social, and other relevant skills necessary to actualize the intent of the basic education curriculum by focusing on the development of learner's reading, critical thinking, analytical, and writing skills.

236,000 TREES- A Christmas Gift for the Children

San Juan City TVL Senior High School joins the Department of Education Tree Planting Activity - DepEd's 236,000 Trees - A Christmas Gift for the Children. 


The tree planting activity was headed by Mr. Demie S. Atienza, School head together with the teaching force Mr. Victor Alfredo C. Cabrillas (SSLG Adviser), Ms. Marissa T. Acuña, Mrs. Edith E. Alad, Mr. John Paolo S. Alad, Ms. Leriza A. Cachola, Mr. Francis D. Davalos, Mrs. Sherly Q. Orpilla and Ms. Jasmin Solera and 20 selected learners. Five (5) trees were planted along P.R. Sotto st. Barangay Tibagan, San Juan City. These trees will soon bear fruits and inspire the community.

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through the efforts of the Schools Division of San Juan City donated ICT equipment (40 sets of desktop computers, 1 unit 52-inch LED TV, and 1 unit printer) to San Juan City Technical-Vocational and Livelihood Senior High School. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for your donation, SDO San Juan City for your efforts in finding partners and all those behind this successful event in setting up the Computer lab and ceremonial turn-over program.

Work Immersion Orientation

One of the goals of the K to 12 Basic Education Program is to develop in learners the competencies, work ethic, and values relevant to pursuing further education and/or joining the world of work. To achieve greater congruence between basic education and the nation's development targets, Work Immersion, a required subject, has been incorporated into the curriculum. This subject will provide learners with opportunities:

1. to become familiar with the work place;

2. for employment simulation; and

3. to apply their competencies in areas of specialization/applied subjects in authentic work environments.

 

This orientation was made for letting our learners understand the nature, process and important details for their upcoming work immersion activities and OJT. Mr. Demie S. Atienza (School head) gave his opening remarks and thanks all the parents for the 100 percent attendance. This orientation was facilitated by Mr. Elmer German P. Garcia (Work Immersion Coordinator); Work Immersion Teachers.

In relation to the DepEd Order No. 039, s. 2022 "Health and Safety Protocols in Light of the COVID-19 Pandemic", particularly on the provision for School Programs and Services, including Vaccination, schools shall ensure continuous implementation of school-based routine vaccination and other medical, dental, and nursing services.


With this, the School Governance and Operations Division-School Health and Nutrition Section and Schools Division Office San Juan City conducted the 1st cycle of deworming activity and Vitamin A administration for SY 2022-2023 last Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 305609 San Juan City Technical-Vocational and Livelihood Senior High School with Nurse Via Popes administering the 1st Cycle deworming and Vitamin to Grade 11 and 12 Learners.  A total of 51 learners have taken the 1st cycle of deworming and 118 learners have Vitamin A. The next cycle of deworming will be administered next year.

305609 San Juan City Technical-Vocational and Livelihood Senior High School, GPTA, and SSG successfully launched the "Adopt a Garden Joint Project". The project was initiated by our School Head Mrs. Maria Aileen Callorina together with this event are teaching and non-teaching personnel.  GPTA also participated in this event with GPTA President Mr. Mark Bernardo, GPTA officers, and parents. They also donated pots for plants and other materials. The Supreme Student Government are also present in this event with their President Mark Jhaztine Bernardo, SSG officers, and students. The aim of this project is to promote teamwork and reconnect students with Mother Nature and understand how essential the natural world is. Each section in Grade 11 and 12 have its assigned garden to plant and take care of it all throughout the year. The day ends with a smile on their face and full of determination to take care of their garden.

SDO San Juan with partner industries launches the school-based feeding program

SAN JUAN CITY-Schools Division Office of the City of San Juan in cooperation with the selected partner industries launched the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) at the Function Room of San Juan City Technical-Vocational and Livelihood Senior High School through the initiative of the School Governance Organization Division (SGOD) last November 21, 2022.

 


Dr. Cecille G. Carandang, SDS of SDO San Juan City spearheaded the said program. Joining her were Dr. Buenafe E. Sabado-ASDS, Mr. Orlando D. Claor- EPS in AP, Ms. Evelyn S. Plaza-OIC-EPS, Ms. Michelle C. Abraham-SDO Nurse. Partner Industries such as Pascual Laboratories, the maker of a well-known over the counter herbal brands, healthcare products, and food supplements, represented by Mr. Rickswartz Sibal, Jersey Milk Product under the  LTH Food Industries, represented by Mr. Keith Abraham Lee, Greyson’s Dimsum and Restaurant, represented by Ms. Maryann Samanta and the ERN’s “Kainan” represented by Ms. Mica Manansil, a former student of SJCTVLSHS were also there to grace the event.


 

The program started with the preliminaries emceed by Ms. Michelle R. Cordovilla. One of the highlights of the said activity was the dance numbers performed by selected students of Mr. Mark Joseph T. Herradura. And also, Mr. John Paolo S. Alad, who is in-charge of the school clinic facilitated the feeding program. Forty (40) selected students, who are categorized under severely wasted, will benefit the program. The SBFP runs for sixty days depending on how many days can each sponsor be able to provide. Each of the partner industries’ representatives was asked to share a small talk about their company and their willingness to support and help the school, especially at this time of face-to-face classes. Dr. Carandang appreciated the full support of these partner industries to all the programs of the Schools Division Office of San Juan City. “Sana ay forever natin silang maging partner,” said Dr. Carandang in her message. She was also delighted when she learned that one of the sponsors of the feeding program was an alumna of SJCSHS who is now an entrepreneur.
