School Safety Takes Center Stage at "Ready, Set, Safe!" Teacher Training
STAFF DEVELOPMENT | January 24, 2026
SAN JUAN CITY — With school safety becoming an increasingly vital priority, senior high school teachers of San Juan City TVL Senior High School participated in a comprehensive Learning Action Cell (LAC) session titled “Ready, Set, Safe! A Teacher’s Training on Teaching School Emergency Safety Protocols” at the school’s mock hotel.
The event, which kicked off at 1:00 PM on January 23, was designed to transform teachers into frontline responders, equipping them with the technical know-how and practical skills required to navigate high-pressure emergency scenarios.
Ms. Haryeth Dictag, a Philippine National Red Cross volunteer, led an intensive workshop on Basic Life Support (BLS) in the first half of the session that focused on immediate medical intervention.
Ms. Dictag provided hands-on demonstrations, emphasizing that the speed and accuracy of a medical response in the first few minutes can be the deciding factor in a crisis. Teachers participated in drills, practicing techniques they can apply directly to the classroom or playground should a medical emergency arise.
The second half of the session that focused on individual life-saving to institutional safety, Mr. Mark Joseph T. Herradura discussed the rigorous implementation of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) protocols.
Mr. Herradura underscored the "Three Pillars of School Safety": standard procedures, defined roles and continuous readiness. "Safety is not a one-time event but a culture of preparedness," Herradura noted highlighting those regular drills are the only way to ensure calm and order when a real emergency occurs.
The session concluded with participants expressing newfound confidence in their ability to protect their learners. By bridging the gap between theoretical safety and practical application, the "Ready, Set, Safe!" initiative has set a new benchmark for faculty preparedness in the school.
San Juan TVL Senior High School Convenes First Quarterly SGC Meeting to Boost Community Synergy
SAN JUAN CITY — In a proactive move to bridge the gap between the classroom and the community, San Juan Technical-Vocational and Livelihood (TVL) Senior High School hosted its first quarterly School Governance Council (SGC) meeting of the year on January 27, 2026.
The session, which began at 10:00 AM in the Office of the School Principal, served as a strategic forum for school administrators and local leaders to align their goals for the 2026 academic calendar. The primary objective was to solidify a collaborative framework that prioritizes learner welfare and institutional growth.
Attendees who participated in the council meeting were Ms. Irene L. Marco, representing the local government of Barangay Isabelita and Ms. Jonalyn Hidalgo, representing the School Parent-Teacher Association (SPTA).
The council deliberated on several high-priority areas designed to elevate the school's standards and environment, such as: (1) Learner Welfare & Support: Strategies to increase stakeholder involvement in programs specifically designed for student well-being and academic assistance; (2) Infrastructure & Facilities: A roadmap for the maintenance and upgrading of school facilities, ensuring that TVL students have access to modern and safe learning environments; and (3) Environmental Advocacy: Promoting a culture of cleanliness and environmental awareness both within the campus and throughout the surrounding community.
The council effectively identified specific areas for collaboration and assigned clear responsibilities to individual members. This structured approach is intended to ensure that the initiatives discussed are implemented on schedule.
By fostering these strong ties with Barangay Isabelita and the SPTA, San Juan TVL Senior High School is positioning itself as a hub for community-driven educational excellence.
